headliner on TheKnot.com

I was just working late (no surprise for June) and remembered that a while back, theKnot.com contacted me and asked if they could use one of my images for the headliner for Oklahoma Wedding Vendors. After thinking long and hard about it for about 1 second, I said sure! I just checked and it is live on the site. Click on the image below and see the full size original. Thanks for the great shot, Adrian and Brian (although that was one of the hottest days of '06!)

Ashley & Chris (rain & shine...)

Now that I have moved to Seattle, Oklahoma (it's a suburb of Oklahoma City that has had 27 inches of rain in 2007 - ha ha), I have had to reschedule just about every engagement and bridal shoot this spring. We have been really lucky though on wedding days. Saturday was just about as lucky. It all started out beautiful...

buuut, during the ceremony, yes it started raining...again. Luckily, Ashley was pretty good in heals.

and bribes are always a good idea.

:: all the girls were sportin' polka dots ::

the weather did clear up though for some great party shots outside at The Waterford and then inside for dancing with stars. Ashley and Chris kicked it off of course and I got to try a new idea that was inspired by Denis Reggie (the originator of wedding photojournalism and the one who literallly shoots the weddings of Kings). I had a really cool opportunity to go hang out and learn from the absolute best in wedding photography last month in Chicago. My print company, Pictage, gathered the best of the best to come share the riches with us young up and comers. It was really cool...more in later posts. Here are a couple images getting creative with wireless flashes.

a little head bangin'...

and finish the night off right with some MJ and "Thriller"!!!

Here are some of Ashley's bridal photos from last month. It was as really fun shoot with new ideas of shooting "urban chic", she pulled it off perfectly!

If you want to know how to make eyes look that good, you'll have to get Mike Colon's DVD. (another of the world's best photographers who gives me a lot of great inspriation and who I got a chance to chat with for quite a while in Chicago)

destinations...

so no commentary on these. you have to use your imagination. as you can tell though, the 5* marriott on Kalapaki beach is must go destination. ok, so i'll add some commentary as soon as i get done editing the 4 weddings from the last 2 weeks.

maybe a little on this one: this shot was so cool. i went back to the beach where jason and kambra had their ceremony and about 11:30pm, i took this with a 30s time exposure. i couldn't even see the palm trees to focus on them so i guessed. i was psyched when i saw it on the screen.

Aloha! (from the end of the earth)

I really think I made it to the end of the earth...or at least one of the four corners. Anna and I had the awesome opportunity to go to Kauai for my first destination wedding. So while I was there, I found out that the Hawaiian islands are the most isolated islands on earth. Kauai is almost at the very Western tip of the islands. We trekked all the way to the North shore where all the locals said the best sunset was. Then we took a one and a half lane road with ten one lane bridges (see my point?) to what they call "the end of the road". It dead ends at the beach and there is no way to get any more unubstructed view of the sunset. Needless to say it was awesome!!! Ok, Todd, there's your first ever blog post...it wasn't so bad was it? ...some wedding images tomorrow.
